What is BaZi?

"a tool (a form of empirical model) that based on a set of Chinese Characters (consisting Yin/Yang, 5 Elements) when constructed from our personal birth data (year, month, day, hour and place of birth) can provide us with great insight about ourselves (personality, talent, capacity, potential, etc.) and assist us in identifying milestones in our life to make informed decisions"

Introduction

The word BaZi came from two Chinese characters 八字, which means 8 Characters.

It is called 8 Characters (八字) because the core of this system consists of 8 Chinese characters or 4 vertical pillars (sometime it is also known as the 4 Pillars system 四柱)

This model started as a calendar system during the Xia (夏) dynasty (a few thousand years ago) in China. That is reason for this extremely accurate solar calendar system to be something known as, Xia calendar.

Each of the 2 Characters or a vertical Pillar represents the year, month, day and hour respectively. The combination and positioning of these Characters (with the additional Luck Pillars) can work out to be more than a million permutations.

This is a symbolic/pictorial system with each Character representing a combination of the Yin/Yang, 5 Elements Energy

For those who are trained and experienced in analyzing this system, they are able to pick up a lot of information by just observing the Characters and the relationship between them (to be more specific, the interaction between the Yin/Yang, 5 Elements). In fact, the foundation of this entire system is very much similar to the concept and principles of the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) studies and practices.

BaZi Application

A BaZi chart/profile can act as a Weather Forecast Report for the voyage called, Life. This could be a very important piece of information for a safe, fulfilling and enjoyable "voyage".

A complete chart/profile will include a set of "Luck Pillars" (derived from the original 8 Characters).

Analysing this chart/profile could be like doing a Personal SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) Analysis.

Myths about BaZi

BaZi is:

• NOT something superstitious - in fact, there is a lot of science in the creation, analysis and application of this system, though at this point in time, some of the processes still cannot be explained according to the scientific approach
• NOT related to any religion - though this system could be practiced or even promoted by some religions, this is a subject based mainly on calculation and deduction. This is a proven system, proven by result, by thousand of years of observations and verifications (it is like an empirical model).
• NOT animal zodiac astrology - though many people focus on or only know about the animal signs, which is associated with their year of birth, there are at least seven other Characters in the BaZi system. Besides, it is not about the animal signs when it come to the analysis, they are just symbols. What is more important is the Yin/Yang, Elemental Energy (their related characteristics) contain within the Characters.
